Books from 2006

I read some good books in 2006. The following list presents the books I read and the rating I gave them (out of 5). Broken for You was my top ranked book. If anyone has any good suggestions, I'm always looking for new books to read. I am currently reading The Tender Bar, a memoir by JR Moeringer as well as Needled to Death by Maggie Sefton. I like just about any kind of book except for fantasy and science fiction. Historical fiction is probably my favorite. I started Gilead (a Pulitzer Prize winner) but gave up after 50-75 pages (did you ever watch paint dry on a wall? That's how riveting I found this book.) I also tried twice to read Reading Lolita in Tehran and just wasn't digging it!

Broken for You Kallos, Stephanie 4.5

Ohhhhhh....a reader!!!! I'm a high school librarian and I'm always trying to promote reading, although I never seem to read very much myelf (I can't believe I'm admitting that). I see Anita Shreve is on your list several times. I love her books!!! Hmmmm...a recommendation, how about "Honk & Hollar Opening Soon" by Billie Letts. It's a quirkly little book, and I loved it!

Well, I have only read a few of those. I have to agree with you on the sci fi stuff and fantasy. I live in house with people who love it though. So, glad you have your cast off ... I think. I know how bad those muscles and ligaments hurt after they have not been used for a long time. Take it easy and follow Dr. Torture's instructions.

I've read Snow Flower & The Secret Fan...loved it! I'll have to try some others that are on your list.
I can recommend Wild Swans by Jung Chang.

Wow! Thanks for the book list. I've read several on your list and they've been my favorites as well. I'll be referring to your list often.

One of my favorites of 2006 was Water for Elephants by Sarah someone (I think). Just a sweet story.
