Penny Power

Remember this?

Since end of March, it's been the receptacle for loose change from my car and wallet and off the kids' bedroom floors (hey, if it's not important enough to keep it off the floor, it's mine!) Well, the container was about 3/4 full and getting kind of heavy so I took it to my local grocery store where they have a Coinstar machine. Turns out there was $80.57 in it. Not bad for money I never would have missed. If you cash out, the surcharge is almost 9% but if you take a gift certificate from selected vendors, you get the full amount. So I took an Amazon certificate for $80.57 and ended up getting a bonus $10 gift certificate. Cool Beans!

Very cool beans! I just noticed our overflowing coin jar and it looks like it is time for a trip to a Coinstar. I've seen them in my local travels. Thanks for the great tip!

...and here I was thinking that I was the only one in the universe to say "cool beans" on a regular basis! That is a very cool payout...I may have to start a jar like that for the loose change that ends up in the laundry!

It is amazing how quick all the "extra" change adds up.

That really is cool beans! Something else cool - I just got an e-mail from my neice in California - she was browsing sewing blogs, came across yours, and found mine on your sidebar - such a small crafting world!
Jane (who still is in awe of the felted bag you made for me in the ITE!)

I'm a HUGE fan of this - I keep something similar next to the washing machine, and it's where all the change goes that I find in the machine or anywhere else in the house. $80 is usually what I get to cash it in for, too!
