My daughter is getting married in November so I decided to knit Christmas stockings for her fiancé and her for their first married Christmas together. Here is the first one:
The next one will be the same design and same colors but I'll make the top, heel and toe red and the stripes green and white. Details on Ravelry.
Question for my knitting buddies.... Do I need to block this? It doesn't look like it needs it.
Aw, what a nice thing to do! I did needlepoint Christmas stockings for my two nieces when they were babies (they're now 18 and 22) and they still treasure them. In fact, I've still got my old Christmas stocking (red, with a white cuff) from my childhood; my father "wrote" my name in gold glitter across the top. It still goes above the fireplace every year!
ReplyDeleteI only block my socks - as in... use sock blockers - for photos for blogging and Ravelry, to show any pattern better.
ReplyDeleteYou could make a stocking blocker. I have one set of sock blockers a friend made out of vinyl placemats.
I don't think so. I didn't block the ones I made for my family a year or so ago. They stretch out when filled and bounce back once you take the treasures out.
ReplyDeleteIt's a very nice stocking. I hope your daughter and new SIL enjoy them. g
I'd say "no" to blocking ... it looks great! You're such a good mom! Great idea for a gift!
ReplyDeleteI'd say no to blocking the stocking (after on martini, I'm a poet!) :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great mom you are!
